Fall 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We need your help to ensure adequate funding is available to support educational programs that directly benefit your child.

As you are aware, our district recently qualified for the CEP program (Community Eligibility Provision) which allows ALL students in our district to receive a free breakfast and lunch. Parents are no longer required to complete an income verification form. While this is great news for families, the completion of this form also provided verification to the state to insure that our district received supplemental and concentration funds to help support our students.

Under the State Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), a portion of our district funding is determined based on the demographics of our student population. On a per student basis for districts like Paradise Unified, there is increased funding for large concentrations of low-income, English Language Learner and foster student populations. Therefore, we are required to establish and confirm the number of students that represent these categories by having families verify their income.

Our goal is to ensure that Paradise students receive the maximum amount of funds that we are eligible to receive by having EVERY family complete the Confidential Family Survey Form. To receive the maximum amount, we must have 100% of eligible students/families complete this important CONFIDENTIAL survey. These additional funds help to provide supplemental resources for our students and hire qualified district staff to support them. Last year PUSD received $4.8 million that was used to provide educational materials, field trips, VAPA, technology and additional services for our students. We are hoping that you will take a few minutes to complete this form and return it to our Data Analyst by Friday, October 5th in the self addressed stamped envelope that was provided. Our children deserve and depend on all of us working together to provide the best education possible. Adequate funding will ensure our children receive the services they deserve.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Michelle John
