Which school?

Which school?

Which school will my child attend?

If you're new to the Paradise community, call the District's Transportation Dept. at (530) 872-6484 to determine which neighborhood school your child should attend.

Paradise Unified School District has a "policy of choice" program; this means students in kindergarten through eighth grade may attend the school of their choice, subject to available space. Older students in secondary school may choose from a variety of programs, subject to space availability and, in some cases, to eligibility requirements.
Attendance

Attendance

What are the attendance, absence and tardy policies?

Students learn best when they're in school regularly. Compulsory education laws require schools to keep track of excused and unexcused absences. Paradise Unified School District expects parents to observe the district's attendance guidelines, which are available at your child's school. If you have questions, call the District Office at 530.872.6400.

Buses

Buses

Is bus transportation available?

Bus transportation is provided for students living within PUSD boundaries and who attend the school in their area of residence under the following guidelines:

1) Transitional kindergarten through third grade students living more than one mile from the school in their attendance area;
2) Fourth through sixth grade students living more than 1.5 miles from the school in their attendance area;
3) Seventh through twelfth grade students living more than 2.0 miles from the school in their attendance area.

Fees:
PUSD charges for all transportation to and from school; students must present a ticket or pass to the bus driver for each ride. Fees collected from riders cover about 12% of the actual cost of providing transportation to students. Free or reduced-cost transportation may be available to IEP students or low-income families.

For more information, visit the Transportation Web page or call the Transportation Office at 530.872.6484 for details.
Weather Cancellations

How do I find out if school is canceled due to the weather?

For your convenience and the safety of our students Paradise Unified School District uses an automated calling system that sends phone/text/email messages to households of students enrolled in our schools. Additionally, you may check our Facebook page, or turn on the radio or television for the latest information. PUSD officials notify local radio and television stations when school is canceled. This is an easy way to find out whether your student has class or not. Due to differing elevations, a storm may cancel just some of the district's schools or the entire district.

To find out the latest, tune in to these stations for school closure news:
